Saudi Arabia strongly condemned on Tuesday the targeting of the United Arab Emirates’ consulate in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
A Foreign Ministry statement stressed Riyadh's solidarity with Abu Dhabi.
The repeated attacks on diplomatic missions are a “clear violation of international laws and norms,” it added.
The UAE’s Foreign Ministry had earlier said a “terrorist” drone attack had struck its consulate.
Material damage was reported. No one was injured in the incident.
The ministry said attacks on diplomatic missions are “flagrant violations of all international laws and norms, especially the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”
It warned that such attacks are a dangerous escalation and threat to regional security and stability.
It called on the Iraq and Kurdistan governments to investigate the attack and hold the perpetrators to account.
