China's June refined oil product exports improved from May, but still tumbled from the same period last year, amid export restrictions that started in mid-March to safeguard domestic supply in the wake of the Iran war.

China is one of Asia's largest fuel exporters, and the higher export allowance would ease tight supplies as regional refiners curtailed output ‌because of war-related ‌crude shortages.

China's refined products exports, including ‌gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, to Hong Kong and Macau totaled 643,712 tons, slightly up 4% from last June.

China's refined oil products exports to regions apart from Hong Kong and Macau stood at 804,968 tons in June, down 64% from the same period last year, but ‌up 11% from May.

Gasoline ‌exports totaled 76,753 tons, excluding volume to Hong ‌Kong and Macau, to Asian regions. Cambodia ‌received 30,267 tons and Sri Lanka received 30,000 tons as the two biggest recipients. Exports to Myanmar were 9,512 tons.

China exported 245,904 tons of diesel ‌to regions excluding Hong Kong and Macau, mainly to Asian countries, with exports to Bangladesh standing at 118,408 tons as the biggest export destination.

China exported 55,846 tons of biodiesel, mainly to Belgium and the Netherlands, in June.

It remains unclear if Beijing's export restrictions cover biodiesel, mainly made from used cooking oil.

Jet fuel exports, excluding Hong Kong and Macau, stood at 426,465 tons, down 15% from May and slumped 64% from a year ago, with the biggest export destination, Vietnam, at 110,340 tons.

LEAP 2026, the fifth edition of the world's largest tech event, kicked off in Riyadh on Monday under the theme "Into New Worlds," bringing together leading technology and artificial intelligence (AI) figures, investors, and innovators from around the world.

The conference saw the announcement of major launches, investments, and partnerships worth more than $15 billion in AI and advanced technologies, strengthening Saudi Arabia's leadership in digital infrastructure and advanced computing and reinforcing its position as a global destination for technology investment in the intelligent era.

Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha said in his opening speech that the launches and investments were made possible through the support and empowerment of Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Japan's defense ministry requested a record budget of 8.9 trillion yen ($55.6 billion) on Monday as Tokyo looks to artificial intelligence to speed up decision-making in the face of a tense security environment.

But the final budget reportedly could reach 10 trillion yen as Tokyo undergoes a sweeping upgrade of its defense in order to navigate growing tension with neighbors such as China, North Korea and Russia.
