A Saudi Royal Decree on Tuesday approved the appointment of members to the councils of the Kingdom's 13 regions for their eighth four-year term.
Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif expressed his gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, following the Royal Decree.
The decree reflects the leadership's continuous support and dedication to regional councils, strengthening their role in developing the Kingdom's regions and advancing comprehensive development in line with Saudi Vision 2030 goals, he stressed.
He noted that over the past 30 years, regional councils have contributed to supporting local development and enhancing integration among government entities in the regions, under the follow-up of regional governors.
The eighth term will continue this approach by leveraging national capabilities and helping in improving the quality of services provided to citizens and residents, he said.
He hoped that the appointed members will succeed and fulfill their responsibilities to meet the leadership's aspirations and serve development across all regions of the Kingdom.
Regional councils represent a key pillar supporting development in the Kingdom's regions through the contribution of national capabilities from citizens, a role they have held for nearly 30 years under the supervision of the Minister of Interior and the follow-up of regional governors.
This framework boosts integration among government entities and achieves comprehensive development goals across all regions of the Kingdom.
