Saudi Arabia strongly condemned on Tuesday the terrorist Houthi militia’s continued “sinful and deliberate” attacks against civilians and civilian areas in the Kingdom.
The Saudi government said the security of the Kingdom and its assets are non-negotiable, underlining its “legitimate right to self-defense and to protect its sovereignty, citizens, residents and vital interests in line with the UN Charter and international law.”
Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in Jeddah.
He briefed the ministers on the telephone call he received from Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the meeting he held on Monday with US Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper. The discussions focused on regional developments.
The cabinet reviewed regional and international developments and Saudi Arabia’s efforts to consolidate security and peace through dialogue and supporting cooperation with the international community to confront global challenges.
It reviewed the Kingdom’s participation in the recent BRICS Summit in New Delhi and 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna on Monday.
At the conference, Riyadh said that it has, over decades, established its position as a reliable energy source and an active partner in the stability of global energy markets.
It is also moving forward with building a national mix of various energy sources to be more diversified and sustainable; this includes adding nuclear energy to this mix within a well-established regulatory framework that complies with international obligations.
