The Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) has earned the golden membership in the Grassroots Charter of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), reaffirming its dedication to developing youth categories and adhering to the highest Asian standards.
The SAFF was granted golden membership directly, bypassing lower levels of recognition. This milestone reflects the federation's efforts, particularly through its technical management team, in implementing initiatives outlined in the talent development pathway of the Saudi Football Transformation Strategy, launched in September 2021.
The achievement follows an evaluation tour conducted by the AFC in early November, highlighting the SAFF’s commitment to youth development. The federation has established over 25 talent identification programs and opened 23 regional training centers across the Kingdom. Youth competitions for ages 15 to 18 have increased from 8 to 12, while regional tournaments for ages 11 to 14 have grown from 35 to 86.
Efforts have also focused on enhancing the competitiveness of youth national teams, strengthening amateur leagues, and advancing programs for women’s football. Additionally, the SAFF has integrated modern technologies, including the SAFF+ platform for match streaming, analysis, and statistics, enabling academies and private clubs to participate in local competitions.
SAFF President Yasser bin Hassan Al-Misehal expressed gratitude, both personally and on behalf of the board members, to the technical department for its exceptional work in developing youth categories. He commended the professional programs designed to discover and refine talent, which played a crucial role in securing the golden membership without progressing through lower levels.
Al-Misehal emphasized the federation’s continued support for youth football development, noting that this membership acknowledges the significant progress made in recent years. He highlighted initiatives such as the restructuring of youth competitions and strengthening the technical department with skilled expertise as key contributors to this achievement.

The Saudi International Golf Tournament 2024, presented by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and SoftBank, is preparing to welcome a select group of top global golf stars.
The championship, with a prize pool of $5 million, will take place from December 4 to 7 at Riyadh Golf Club, marking the final event of both the Asian Tour and the International Series.
The edition marks the first time the tournament will be held in Riyadh, following five successful editions hosted at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City. This reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to promoting golf on the global stage and the ongoing efforts of Saudi Golf and the Saudi Golf Federation (SGF) to attract major international sports events.
Leading the field at the championship is the world’s 16th-ranked player, Tyrrell Hatton, who arrives in Riyadh following a series of impressive achievements this year.
Hatton will be joined by a select group of global golf stars confirmed for the tournament, including defending champion Abraham Ancer, 2022 champion Harold Varner III, two-time champion (2019 and 2021) Dustin Johnson, and 2022 Open Championship winner Cameron Smith.
The presence of these stars and others adds greater competitiveness and excitement to the tournament, further solidifying its status as one of the premier events on the global golf calendar.
The championship will serve as the final stop in the series of ten prestigious international events, paving the way for players to qualify directly for the LIV Golf League. The champion of the International Series standings will secure a spot in the 2025 LIV Golf League.
Additionally, the top 32 qualified players in the standings, along with all 2024 Asian Tour champions, will participate in the LIV Golf promotional event, set to take place at Riyadh Golf Club from December 12 to 14.
The 2024 Asian Tour champion will also guarantee a spot in the top four positions of the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR).
