Joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran on Saturday targeted Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, according to Israel’s public broadcaster Kan.
Kan quoted an Israeli source as saying that Khamenei and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian were among the intended targets of the attack.
In a related development, the Iranian president’s son said the assassination attempts had failed, adding that Pezeshkian was unharmed and that all senior officials were safe.
He said Iran should expect a prolonged confrontation “of an attritional nature” and called for patience and steadfastness.
