Tehran revealed on Wednesday that a military delegation from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards had taken part in a weapons expo in Qatar.
Qatar is hosting the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2018) from March 12 to 14.
Iran’s Mehr news agency reported that deputy naval commander of the Guards Ali Tanksiri will head a delegation that will attend a military conference for west Asia naval commanders that is being held on the sidelines of the DIMDEX 2018.
He told the IRNA news agency that Tehran “supports the people and government of Qatar.”
“The conditions are ripe to bolster cooperation with Qatar,” he added.
On his country’s participation at the conference, he said that “we seek the strongest of ties” in the military field.
Tanksiri revealed that this was the second time that an Iranian military delegation takes part in the Doha expo, adding that Tehran will seek to display Iranian weapons at the event in the future.
The delegation’s visit came at a time when the American administration has been demanding that more pressure be exerted on Tehran over its missile program.
