Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said on Sunday that the current Israeli government does not want to complete the hostage deal or end the ongoing war on the Gaza Strip.
“They (Israelis) want to continue this war,” he noted.
Speaking at a dialogue session at the Munich Security Conference, the FM said, “We cannot continue to talk about what is happening in Gaza as if it were a passing matter; ignore it and move on. There is a catastrophe in Gaza. Innocent people are being killed there.”
Safadi noted that the Israeli army is killing women and children in Gaza, destroying hospitals and schools, saying "this must be recognized."
The FM underlined that Israel cannot enjoy security unless the Palestinians enjoy it. “None of us will enjoy peace unless the Palestinians enjoy their legitimate rights to establish their state, freedom and dignity”, he said.
He further added, “It is unacceptable to continue skirting around the issues and not admitting that the problem lies in Israeli policy, where Israel does not want to recognize the right of the Palestinian people to exist, and they are not only saying that, but they are doing everything they can to make the two-state solution unachievable, and the reality shows that.”
Also, Safadi said that nothing can justify the continued destruction of the livelihoods of two million people, the attack on hospitals, the killing of 12,000 children, and making 17,000 children in Gaza orphans.
“This is unacceptable by any standard,” he noted, stressing that Israel has violated all laws and moral and humanitarian values.
The health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza on Sunday said that at least 28,985 people have been killed in the Palestinian territory during the war between Hamas and Israel.
A total of 127 people died in the last 24 hours, and 68,883 people have been injured since war erupted on October 7, it added in a statement.
