Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah stressed on Sunday that the 10th Arab-China Business Conference is an opportunity for the private sector to boost investments.
At the opening of the two-day conference in Riyadh, he said the event is an opportunity to “bolster the Arab-Chinese friendship and work together towards a shared future.”
Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid al-Falih declared at the event: “We will work with China to seize investment opportunities and seek sustainable partnerships for a better future.”
He noted that relations between the Kingdom and China have grown close “because we boast the biggest economy in the Middle East and the fastest growing economy in the world in the past year.”
He underlined Saudi Arabia’s determination to work as a bridge between the Arab world and China.
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said Saudi Arabia is leading joint work between the Arabs and China.
Cooperation between the two sides will attract investments to the region, he went on to say.
He noted that the region boasts several promising investment opportunities, but it has not attracted enough capital given the turbulence and crises it endures.
Chinese entrepreneurs and investors are flocking to Riyadh to attend the conference, which will bring together business and government leaders aiming to explore expansion and fundraising opportunities.
The event will draw about 2,000 attendees from Greater China, in what will be one of the region's biggest-yet business delegation to Saudi Arabia, according to one person with direct knowledge of the matter.
Chinese entrepreneurs in attendance represent a range of industries -- from renewable energy and artificial intelligence to biotech, finance and tourism.
