Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz has unveiled that significant transformations are expected to occur in the electricity service at holy sites over the next three years.
Prince Abdulaziz confirmed that the government’s efforts in Hajj season 2023 and the coming years aim to enhance the provision of comprehensive energy services.
He emphasized that the energy system aims to provide the best service for pilgrims, affirming that everyone will witness a qualitative shift in the concept of electricity services at holy sites over the next three years.
“Our duty towards the pilgrims is to constantly strive to provide essential and comprehensive services, under the guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince,” said the minister.
Prince Abdulaziz, accompanied by the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, inspected the preparations and operational plans related to energy supplies for this year’s Hajj season.
The inspection tour covered energy facilities in Makkah and the holy sites, including reviewing operational plans, the effectiveness and efficiency of electrical projects, and the availability of petroleum products.
The energy minister visited several sites of new projects implemented by the Saudi Electricity Company at a cost exceeding one billion Saudi riyals ($266.6 million), serving the pilgrims of the Holy Kaaba in Makkah and the holy sites.
He also visited the main control center of the network in Mina and the new Crisis and Disaster Management and Safety Center in the holy sites, as well as projects related to automation and the use of modern technologies in the electrical network.
