Qatar Airways has announced the success of its inaugural journey to AlUla, west of Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman has launched several projects to advance and develop AlUla region and allow visitors to explore exceptional natural and human heritage sites.
Qatar Airways' inaugural trip to the city of AlUla on Monday marks another step in the airline's commitment to providing its passengers with the best travel experience, connecting them to the world through their gateway to over 170 destinations around the globe.
The airline will be operating two weekly flights to AlUla, bringing the total number of destinations to Saudi Arabia to ten.
The trip organized by the Qatari carrier showcased AlUla as a new and exciting destination, offering travelers a unique blend of history, culture, and luxury.
The high-level delegation included Qatar's Minister of Culture, Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani, Saudi Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al-Saud, Qatar Airways Group CEO Badr al-Meer, Acting CEO of the Royal Commission for AlUla Abeer al-Akel, and several officials.
The delegation started the itinerary with a visit to the heart of the city's Old Town.
The tour showcased the revitalized Old Town, a historical gem with ancient traditional architecture revamped with a modern touch.
The journey continued with exploring various sites, highlighting a synergy of modernity and history, notably a visit to the sustainable and biodiverse district, Oasis, and multiple publishing houses, providing a deeper understanding of the local culture and its affinity to literature.
The Qatari Minister emphasized the importance of investing in archaeological sites and developing their accessibility to enable the exploration of the rich cultural heritage of AlUla.
Sheikh Abdulrahman asserted that heritage protection and preservation are two of the most important goals of cultural work.
He indicated that historical and heritage landmarks attract people from the region and around the world.
For his part, al-Meer revealed the growing network of Qatar Airways destinations in the Kingdom.
He indicated that the airline now operates a network in Saudi Arabia to 10 destinations, with this new addition serving its key market with diverse travel options worldwide.
