President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, met with Don Ruhmann, Chief Aerospace Safety Officer at Boeing and member of the company's Executive Council, during his official visit to the United States of America from September 18-19. Al-Duailej was accompanied by a delegation representing the civil aviation sector.
The two sides held a meeting during which they reviewed several topics of mutual interest and discussed ways to enhance cooperation between them in the civil aviation sector, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday.
They also explored opportunities for partnership and investment in advanced air mobility projects in the Kingdom, including the development of technologies, infrastructure, and regulatory frameworks supporting this sector.
During the visit, GACA signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Washington with Boeing in the field of advanced air mobility.
The memorandum explores potential partnership and investment opportunities to support the evaluation and implementation of advanced air mobility in the Kingdom, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the aviation program. This aims to enhance and support economic growth between the Kingdom and the United States of America.
The Saudi delegation, headed by Al-Duailej, visited the Dreamliner 787 production facility in South Carolina to enhance cooperation in exchanging expertise, transferring technology, and localizing aviation industries.
The visit, which included the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), reviewed several key topics, including strengthening strategic relations and technical cooperation. It also discussed enhancing cooperation in exchanging expertise in aviation safety and developing training programs for GACA engineers and aviation safety inspectors.
