GAIN Summit Honors Saudi Culture Ministry with AI Ethics Medal

The Saudi Ministry of Culture was presented with the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ethics Medal for 2024 in recognition of its innovative work in this area on the sidelines of the 3rd Global AI Summit 2024 (GAIN Summit), reported the Saudi Press Agency on Friday.

The summit was organized by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) and concluded in Riyadh on Thursday.

The Ministry was granted the award in recognition of its dedication to applying ethical standards to the use of AI technology. It was one of the first institutions to embrace the AI ethics project in September 2022.

The AI ethics initiative is a part of the ongoing government efforts to back Saudi Arabia’s AI national strategy. Its goals include bolstering economic growth, establishing clear guidelines for AI ethics, and supporting and promoting research and innovation in the field.

Culture Ministry Launches Crafts Hackathon as Part of Year of Handicrafts 2025

The Ministry of Culture has launched a crafts hackathon designed to bring together creators and innovators from diverse fields.

The event aims to generate innovative solutions for various aspects of the handicrafts sector, including marketing, design, and production. This initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the 2025 Year of Handicrafts.
Registration for the hackathon will remain open until January 31, 2025. The selection of qualified participants will begin in early February, followed by a two-day training camp on February 14 and 15, SPA reported.
The hackathon targets a diverse range of participants, including artisans, designers, developers, and programmers.

Teams must consist of at least three and no more than five members. All participants must be at least 18 years old.
