Organized by Umm Al-Qura University’s College of Designs and Arts, the "Handicrafts Conference: Identity and Creativity" has concluded its mission to bridge traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation.
The event served as a strategic platform for academics, researchers, and over 100 skilled Saudi artisans to discuss the sustainability of the creative economy in line with national identity, SPA reported.
The conference featured more than 50 speakers and 20 trainers who led workshops on product development, economic sustainability, and the role of contemporary design in preserving cultural heritage. By integrating academic knowledge with practical application, the event aimed to modernize Saudi crafts while maintaining their authentic roots.
Artisans expressed pride in the event, noting that the accompanying exhibition pavilions allowed them to share their cultural stories and refine their techniques through expert feedback. Ultimately, the conference reinforced Umm Al-Qura University’s commitment to fostering an interactive environment that ensures the Kingdom’s handicraft sector remains a vibrant pillar of the national economy.
