The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, stressed on Thursday the important role of the GCC-US strategic partnership in serving common interests and supporting the security and stability of the region.
The GCC chief's remarks came during his meeting with the US Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Michael Alan Ratney, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed arrangements related to the GCC-US joint meetings that are held within the framework of the strategic partnership between the Council and the United States.
Discussions also addressed the priorities of the meetings of the specialized working groups and the means to develop and enhance cooperation between them in all fields, in addition to following up on the latest developments on regional issues, and topics of common interest.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Aluwaisheg, Assistant Secretary General for Political and Negotiation Affairs at the GCC Secretariat General.
