Hajj pilgrims began on Wednesday performing the Tawaf Al-Ifadah (circumambulation) around the holy Kaaba at the Grand Mosque, following the plans and procedures system set in place by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques and all other concerned authorities organized the entry of pilgrims to the Grand Holy Mosque in Makkah, according to the procedures to manage crowds in a manner that ensures their safety, security and comfort.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health advised pilgrims to avoid standing in waiting lines for long periods after taking off the Ihram attire to perform the stoning of the devil ritual as temperatures soured in the 40s.
The ministry said pilgrims should avoid physical stress, direct sunlight, and stampeding while throwing pebbles. It called on everyone to drink plenty of fluids and to always take an umbrella.
It stressed that the rituals of the Hajj should be performed consciously and safely and that being in good health will help pilgrims complete their rituals and worship.
