Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian will arrive in Saudi Arabia on Thursday for a one-day visit, during which he will talk with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

The two ministers are expected to discuss bilateral relations and ways to develop them, especially after the agreement to restore diplomatic relations between the two countries, which Beijing sponsored last March.

The Iranian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alireza Enayati, will accompany Amir-Abdollahian to officially assume his duties at the Tehran embassy, which opened on June 6.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the Iranian foreign minister confirmed that the coming days will witness the exchange of ambassadors between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

"In the coming days, our ambassador will go to Saudi Arabia, and the ambassador of Riyadh will come to Tehran," he said.

Enayati asserted that Iran seeks to consolidate the economic sector in bilateral relations with Saudi Arabia, stating that a joint committee will be formed.

The ambassador warned that some foreign powers are trying to destroy the relations among the region's countries, emphasizing the need to choose a constructive path through dialogue.

On March 10, Saudi Arabia and Iran signed a landmark agreement in Beijing which ushered in a series of confidence-building steps to resume diplomatic relations under the auspices of China.

In a joint tripartite statement with China, the two countries affirmed their adherence to principles of sovereignty and non-interference in each other's internal affairs and stated their intent to establish cooperation in trade, economy, culture, science, and technology.

Director-General of the Office of the Foreign Minister Abdulrahman Aldawood and Saudi Ambassador to Brazil Dr. Faisal bin Ibrahim Ghulam were in attendance.
