UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received in Dubai on Tuesday Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Erdogan is in Dubai to take part in the World Governments Summit 2024. Türkiye is a guest of honor at the event.

The leaders reviewed several regional and international issues of mutual interest, including recent developments in the Gaza Strip, reported the UAE state news agency (WAM).

They stressed the need for international efforts to halt hostilities in the Strip and ensure the full protection of civilians in line with international humanitarian law.

They called for guaranteeing the safe and sustained provision of humanitarian aid without risking further harm or forced displacement. Moreover, they underscored the critical need to prevent further escalation of conflict in the Middle East, which poses a threat to regional peace and stability.

Sheikh Mohamed and Erdogan also discussed strengthening bilateral relations and working together to meet the aims of the two countries' wide-ranging economic partnership.

The leaders discussed expanding cooperation in areas that would benefit both countries and their peoples.

Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the considerable growth in UAE-Turkish relations, especially in investment, trade, energy, technology, and sustainable development.

Both leaders are committed to furthering this progress to bolster bilateral ties.

Erdogan extended his deepest condolences and sympathies to Sheikh Mohamed over the passing of UAE Armed Forces personnel who lost their lives in a terrorist act in Somalia while on duty training the Somali Armed Forces.

The leaders discussed the World Governments Summit and its agenda, underlining its role in boosting governmental operations with innovative ideas and strategies for development and governmental capacity to navigate current and future challenges.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Presidential Court; Ali bin Hammad Al Shamsi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for National Security; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; and Khaldoun Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority and Member of the Executive Council.

GCC Sec-Gen Condemns Storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli Extremist Minister

Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi has strongly condemned the intrusion of an extremist minister from the Israeli occupation government into Al-Aqsa Mosque.
According to a press release issued by the GCC Secretariat General, Secretary General Albudaiwi stated that the continuation of these illegal practices in the Palestinian territories represents a blatant provocation of the feelings of Muslims around the world and a flagrant violation of the rights of the Palestinian people.
"This reflects the Israeli occupation forces' deliberate disregard for all international laws and humanitarian charters and threatens the security and stability of the region," he pointed out, SPA reported.
Albudaiwi affirmed that encroaching on the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Islamic holy sites and terrorising civilians has become a normal practice for the Israeli occupation government.
He stressed that this government does not respect international laws and regulations, does not believe in human rights, and pursues arrogant and inhumane policies that contradict the fundamental principles of justice and humanitarian values.

"This requires serious, prompt, and effective international action to guarantee the protection of the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights."
