Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah accepted Sunday the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.

An Emiri Order accepted the government's resignation and instructed it to act as caretaker until the formation of a new cabinet.

The Prime Minister submitted his cabinet's resignation as expected to the Emir on Saturday.
The move comes after a new parliament was elected on Thursday and is a procedural one as the current government has to submit its resignation before the legislature's inauguration.

The Emir on Sunday signed a decree calling on the National Assembly to convene on Wednesday April 17.

Sheikh Mishal met separately on Sunday former National Assembly speakers Ahmad Al-Sadoun and Marzouq Al-Ghanim.

The meetings were part of current consultations for forming a new government.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira in Rio de Janeiro on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.

The two officials reviewed relations and discussed regional and international developments.

During Tuesday’s meeting, the ministers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a Saudi-Brazilian Coordination Council, building on the agreement reached between the two countries' leaders during Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's visit to Saudi Arabia on November 30, 2023.

Director-General of the Office of the Foreign Minister Abdulrahman Aldawood and Saudi Ambassador to Brazil Dr. Faisal bin Ibrahim Ghulam were in attendance.
