Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi emphasized in a statement on Sunday the importance of maintaining regional and global stability in light of the recent developments in the Middle East.
He urged all parties involved to exercise maximum self-restraint to prevent further escalation that could threaten regional stability and safety of civilians, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Albudaiwi stressed the need for collaborative efforts and diplomatic solutions to resolve disputes.
He underscored the crucial role of the international community in supporting the peace efforts, and highlighted the potential consequences of further escalation.

The statement concluded with a call for all relevant parties to commit to upholding regional and global security and peace.
Iran launched a swarm of explosive drones and fired missiles at Israel late on Saturday in its first-ever direct attack on Israeli territory.
Iran had vowed retaliation for what it called an Israeli strike on its Damascus consulate on April 1 that killed seven Guards officers including two senior commanders and said its strike was a punishment for "Israeli crimes". Israel has neither confirmed nor denied responsibility for the consulate attack.

Saudi Arabia welcomed on Tuesday the ceasefire proposal between Israel-Iran forwarded by US President Donald Trump, praising the efforts aimed at de-escalation.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that it hopes all parties commit to de-escalation and refrain from using force in the coming period.

The Kingdom reiterated support for dialogue and diplomatic means to settle conflicts and regional disputes.

Trump’s announcement on Truth Social said the ceasefire beginning about midnight Washington time would bring an “Official END” to the war.
