The United Arab Emirates expressed on Sunday its “deep concern” over the developments that have taken place in the region, calling for an “end to the escalation” and for parties “to refrain from steps that could deepen the tensions.”

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for exercising the “utmost restraint to avoid the dangerous repercussions and prevent the region from heading towards new levels of instability.”

It said disputes must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy and respect for the law and United Nations Charter.

It urged the UN and its Security Council to “assume their responsibilities towards consolidating international peace and security by resolving the chronic issues and conflicts in the region that have started to threaten global security and stability.”
