UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan received on Wednesday Faisal Mekdad, the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in Abu Dhabi.
The two men held a meeting and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties between the UAE and Syria across various sectors, including development, to serve the mutual interests of both nations, WAM news agency said Thursday.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the UAE-Syria long-standing fraternal relations, underscoring their mutual commitment to fostering cooperation for the benefit of their peoples, said the agency.
The ministers also exchanged views on regional and international developments, particularly in the Middle East, stressing the importance of collective Arab efforts in promoting sustainable stability and meeting the developmental aspirations of the region's populations.

The sixth relief plane, operated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), left on Sunday the King Khalid International Airport bound for Damascus International Airport, carrying food, shelter, and medical supplies.
The assistance provides help for the Syrian people in their critical circumstances and reaffirms Saudi Arabia's longstanding support for the brotherly and friendly countries in times of crisis.
