The Royal Oman Police said on Tuesday that it had completed, in cooperation with the military and security services, “the procedures for dealing with the shooting incident” that occurred on Monday evening, in the Wadi Al Kabir area in Muscat Governorate.

Pakistan has strongly condemned the “terrorist” attack that targeted a mosque in Wadi Al Kabir in the Omani capital, which was frequented by a number of Pakistani residents in the Sultanate to commemorate Ashura Day.

Six persons, including a policeman, were killed following the shooting incident on Monday evening, in addition to three perpetrators, the Royal Oman Police said.

It also reported that 28 individuals of various nationalities were injured, including four from the Royal Oman Police and Civil Defense and Ambulance Authority, who were performing their national duty.

Among the dead were two Pakistani citizens, according to the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Pakistani Embassy in Oman said that it is coordinating closely with the Omani authorities to return their bodies home.

The Omani police neutralized the attackers, but the authorities did not identify the perpetrators of the attack.

A statement by the Pakistani Foreign Ministry and the Pakistani Embassy announced that Pakistan had offered to assist in the investigations and “bring the perpetrators of the incident before justice.”

The Pakistani embassy in Muscat said in a statement on X that the country’s ambassador to Muscat, Imran Ali, visited hospitals to check on the condition of the injured Pakistani citizens.
