Saudi Arabia Slams Israeli Move to Turn UNRWA Location in Jerusalem into Settlement Outpost

Saudi Arabia strongly condemned on Sunday Israel’s decision to confiscate and turn into a settlement outpost the land on which the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is located in occupied Jerusalem.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry stressed the Kingdom’s rejection of the continued flagrant Israeli violations of international laws and resolutions, done with impunity, and its systematic political and military targeting of UN agencies and relief organizations, endangering the live of their workers.

It expressed the Kingdom's support for UNRWA’s humanitarian mission of providing relief assistance to Palestinian refugees.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan has met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira in Rio de Janeiro on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.

The two officials reviewed relations and discussed regional and international developments.

During Tuesday’s meeting, the ministers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a Saudi-Brazilian Coordination Council, building on the agreement reached between the two countries' leaders during Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's visit to Saudi Arabia on November 30, 2023.

Director-General of the Office of the Foreign Minister Abdulrahman Aldawood and Saudi Ambassador to Brazil Dr. Faisal bin Ibrahim Ghulam were in attendance.
