Official spokesman of the Saudi Defense Ministry Turki al-Malki announced on Saturday that a ballistic missile that had targeted one of its air bases fell "in an uninhabited area" as Iran continued its strikes across the Gulf.
"A ballistic missile fell in an uninhabited area after being launched towards Prince Sultan Air Base," he said.
Earlier, al-Malki said the Kingdom’s defenses intercepted 14 drones in the Empty Quarter that were headed toward the Shaybah oilfield in the southeast.
Defenses also intercepted and destroyed six drones that were targeting the same field, one that was aimed at the capital Riyadh, and three ballistic missiles that were launched at the Prince Sultan Air Base in al-Kharj, 80 kms southeast of Riyadh.
On Friday, al-Malki said the Kingdom destroyed three ballistic missiles that were fired at the base and two Cruise missiles that were fired in eastern al-Kharj.
It also destroyed six drones: three in eastern Riyadh, and one each in northeast of the capital, the Eastern Region and al-Kharj.
