Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz received at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on Wednesday the Chairman of the General Sports Authority, Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al Al-Sheikh, accompanied by the Saudi Arabian Football Association (SAFA) and players of Saudi Football First Team.
The meeting was arranged on the occasion of the team’s qualification for World Cup finals 2018 in Russia.
SAFA President Adel Izzat expressed happiness over meeting King Salman, saying the meeting reflects the care and concern given by the king to the youths and sportsmen which enabled them to occupy top ranks at regional, Arab and global forums, with their latest achievement being qualification to the World Cup finals for the fifth time.
"The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' speech to the members of the team, guided by generous guidance, will serve as a roadmap for the team in their journey towards the World Cup," said Izzat.
King Salman described the team’s qualification for Russia 2018 as a great achievement for the nation, and wished them further success, according to SPA.
“I am pleased to meet with you today as you represent your country which is the land of the Two Holy Mosques and the launch of Arabism,” said King Salman.
The General Sports Authority board led by chairman Turki bin Abdulmohsen Al Al-Sheikh and the president and members of SAFA were also received at Al Salam Palace in Jeddah.
The audience was attended by Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, Minister of State and Cabinet member Dr. Musaed bin Mohammed Al Aiban, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Nizar bin Obaid Madani and a number of officials.
