Hamas movement rejected security communication between Palestine and Israel, stating that it only serves the Israeli occupation.

Hamas spokesperson Abdul-Latif Qanou said that any resumption of the security coordination is rejected and only benefits the Israeli occupation, adding that it harms the resistance and the national reconciliation.

The movement announced the statement even though none of the Palestinian and Israeli officials discussed the issue, but recent Israeli reports stated that the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Israel has fully restored the security coordination over the past few days.

'Channel 2' reported that security coordination between Israel and the PA has fully resumed some 3 months after President Mahmoud Abbas suspended it to protest new security restrictions imposed at the Temple Mount.

'Channel 2' also said the Palestinian forces resumed full coordination this week, but provided no further details.

In July, President Abbas suspended security coordination with Israel to protest the installation of metal detectors at entrances to the site.

Following that, all security and political communications were halted including the security coordination.

There are several forms of communication between the PA and Israel that can be summarized in two forms: security, which includes security and military issues, and civil, which includes treating patients, money transfer, travel and other matters.

PA asked the revision and evaluation of all transition agreement with Israel and bringing the situations as it were before the year 2000; which includes any invasions of the Palestinian territories, cancel the role of the civil administration of Israeli army, and transferring civil jurisdiction to the authority to re-establish security coordination.

Israel rejected the demands, however, Hamas sources believe that the coordination is gradually being reestablished.

Palestinian authorities said Israeli troops killed a 55-year-old man in the north of the occupied West Bank on Thursday -- an incident the Israeli army said involved a stabbing attack.

The Ramallah-based health ministry said the body in charge of coordination with Israel informed it that soldiers "shot and killed" the man in Rummanah, near Jenin, in the morning.

The Israeli military said separately that troops deployed in the village "neutralised" a man after he stabbed and "moderately injured" a soldier, AFP reported.

The army generally uses the term "neutralised" after killing someone.

Violence in the West Bank, which Israel has occupied since 1967, has soared since the Hamas attack of October 2023.

A 12-year-old Palestinian boy died Thursday of wounds suffered during an army raid near the West Bank town of Nablus last week, the health ministry said.

Since October 7, 2023, Israeli troops or settlers have killed at least 951 Palestinians, including many militants, the ministry said.

Over the same period, at least 35 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks or during Israeli military operations, according to Israeli figures.
