Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz received on Tuesday a telephone call from US President Donald Trump, reported the Saudi Press Agency.
The two leaders discussed bilateral ties and the latest regional and international developments.
King Salman also warned Trump against making any declaration on Jerusalem that may harm peace negotiations.
Trump had contacted various Middle East leaders on Tuesday to inform them of his intention to move the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, a measure that has been condemned by the Palestinian authorities.
The Arab leaders have warned Trump against taking such a unilateral move, saying it could inflame tensions in the region and the Muslim and Christian world.
King Salman informed Trump that Saudi Arabia will always stand by the Palestinian people and their historic rights,
He too reiterated Arab fears that his actions on Jerusalem would stoke tensions in the Muslim world.
