The Saudi Presidency of State Security announced on Tuesday that wanted fugitive Abdullah Mirza al-Qallaf was killed in a security operation in al-Qatif.

A source from the agency said that Qallaf, who was wanted on several terrorist crimes, was under surveillance by security forces.

He was spotted near a farm between the towns of al-Awamiya and al-Qadih where he was driving a vehicle without proper license plates.

He refused to comply with the security forces’ order to stop and soon opened fire at them.

A shootout ensued to neutralize the suspect and he was killed, said the source.

No members of the security forces or pedestrians were wounded in the incident.

A number of weapons were seized in Qallaf’s vehicle, including a Kalashnikov rifle, 9 mm Glock pistol, military equipment and several rounds of ammunition.
