Saudi: Wanted Suspect Al-Shehri Killed in Security Raid

Saudi authorities have announced the death of a wanted suspect in a security operation.

The Interior Ministry said that further to a statement on the martyrdom of four security men at a security checkpoint on the Arqoub road between Majarada and Bareq provinces, in Asir area, after being shot by assailants, and the security forces' arrest of two of those involved in the attack and the death of their third partner after an exchange of fire with him while trying to escape, and as a result of a follow up, the security men detected the presence of the wanted, Khalid Mohammed Ali Al-Shehri, a Saudi national, at his family home in the village of Al-Wahdah in the province of Namas, at 9 pm Saturday.

When he was surrounded and asked to surrender, he refused and attacked the security men with a bladed weapon in his possession. He was dealt with in accordance with the requirements of the situation and was neutralized, resulting in his injury and death after being transferred to the hospital.

El-Khereiji to Burhan: Saudi Arabia Keen on Sudan’s Stability

Sudanese army commander and head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan held talks in Port Sudan on Saturday with Saudi Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Eng. Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji, who was in Sudan on a short visit.

The talks in the interim capital focused on relations between Saudi Arabia and Sudan and means to bolster them.

The Kingdom is keen on ensuring that security and stability are restored in Sudan, local media quoted El-Khereiji as saying.

Authorities in Port Sudan did not issue an official statement following their meeting.

El-Khereiji had previously said Saudi Arabia was tirelessly working on resolving the crisis in Sudan.

Ending the crisis starts with a halt in the fighting and bolstering the humanitarian response, he went on to say.

This will pave the way for a political future that guarantees the country’s security, stability and territorial integrity and stops foreign meddling, he added.
