Saudi State Security official Spokesman Maj. Gen. Bassam Attia said that modern-day terrorism in the Arab region emerges from various ideologies, especially those traced back to Khomeinism and the Muslim Brotherhood.

“Terrorism is always sprouting from an ideological background,” he said.

“Our region is still living with the remnants of ideologies, namely the Khomeinist ideology and that of the Muslim Brotherhood.”

He explained that ideologies which influenced the world and caused great human losses, such as the fascism and Nazism, ended last century. However, the threat of ideologies such as Khomeinism and the Muslim Brotherhood endures, he added.

“The Arab region is complex and ambiguous when it comes to security, governed by a state of uncertainty,” he said.

In his lecture titled “The History of Terrorism in the Kingdom and the Role of Industrial Security in the Face of Risks,” Maj.Gen. Attiya said, in the coming period, Saudi Arabia will witness huge investments in human resources.

Dr. Fahad Bin Mushait, Chief Executive Officer of STC, a subsidiary of Saudi Telecom Company, participated in the forum, revealing the relentless efforts to build a unified network in Saudi Arabia for wireless communications.

“We aspire to reach 500 sites before the end of 2018,” he said.

He pointed out that the unified network is based on global standards.

Head of the International Society for Industrial Security in Dhahran Jaber Al-Sahimi gave a speech in which he called for developing strategies based on a future vision and setting clear objectives for the advancement of civil security, taking into account present and future challenges.
