Sultan Qaboos of Oman received in Muscat on Monday Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman.

Discussions covered bilateral relations and the firm joint stances of Saudi Arabia and Oman on maintaining security and stability in the region, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

Prince Khalid hailed the Sultan's keenness on efforts and continuous support for cooperation between Riyadh and Muscat.

The meeting was attended by a number of officials.

Sultan Qaboos threw dinner banquet in honor of Prince Khalid and his accompanying delegation.

The Saudi minister had arrived in Oman earlier on Monday.

He held separate talks with Oman’s minister in charge of defense affairs Badr bin Saud bin Harib Al-Busaeedi and Minister for Sultan's Bureau Affairs General Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Numani.

Discussions focused on bilateral relations and efforts to protect their common border.

They also tackled efforts to counter terrorism and extremism and ways to bolster the current military cooperation between their countries.

Saudi Interior Ministry Highlights Successful Efforts at Countering Narcotics

Deputy Interior Minister of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Dawood, said on Tuesday that the Kingdom implemented a comprehensive security campaign that successfully dealt with drug-related crimes.
He said the campaign entailed coordinated security plans involving all concerned parties.
Dawood, who led the Kingdom's delegation to the 2nd Baghdad International Conference on Countering Narcotics 2024 held in Iraq on Monday, stressed the need to strengthen efforts among the participating nations to control the spread of narcotics and to discuss mechanisms to stop drug trafficking.
He emphasized that countering smuggling and drug trafficking fall in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 top priorities.
Dawood highlighted the Kingdom's commitment to dealing with the dangers posed by drugs to the security and stability of society by harnessing national capabilities to raise the society's awareness to this threat.
