Ten Kuwaiti MPs filed on Tuesday a no-confidence motion against Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Ghadeer Aseeri, marking the first grilling since the government formation in December 11, 2019.

National Assembly Speaker Marzouq al-Ghanim made the announcement after deliberations on the grilling motion of MP Adel al-Damkhi against the minister during Tuesday’s ordinary session.

Ghanim said the Assembly will discuss and vote on the no-confidence motion in an ordinary session scheduled for Feb 4.

Lawmakers who signed the motion against Aseeri included Mohammad Hayef, Riyad al-Adsani, Mohammad al-Mutair, Abdullah al-Kandari, Khaled al-Otabi, Abdullah al-Enezi, Abdulkareem al-Kandari, Abdulwahab al-Babtain, Nayef al-Merdas and Thamer al-Suwait.

The Assembly discussed Aseeri’s disregard of cooperation among authorities.

Aseeri said, however, that many constitutional experts, MPs and citizens have agreed the grilling is unconstitutional for being based on incidents that happened before she took the oath.

However, she expressed willingness to be questioned to defend her reputation.

She added that the Constitutional Court’s decisions stipulated that “the grilling shall be about matters within her jurisdiction, actions made by her ministry, her implementation of the government’s policy in the ministry, and overseeing the ministry’s affairs.”

She called for the grilling to be based on evidence and facts so that she can defend herself.

She added that lawmakers should not have allowed for the discussion of the questioning motion.

The Muslim World League (MWL) Secretariat General strongly condemned Israel’s continued violations of all international laws and norms, including its announced incursion into and control over the Gaza Strip and Palestinian territories, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.

In a statement, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, denounced the brutal approach by the Israeli occupation government, while categorically rejecting all its expansionist attempts that violate international legitimacy resolutions and undermine efforts for a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
