Kuwait announced on Saturday that 1,005 more people have recovered from the novel coronavirus.
The latest figures bring its total recoveries to 19,282.
Kuwait will receive next week its first shipment of the Japanese medicine, Avigan, which has shown positive results in clinical trials conducted by many countries to treat the virus, said the Health Ministry Friday, according to the state news agency KUNA.
The Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Medicines and Medical Equipment Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Al-Bader, revealed the first shipment of the drug is part of emergency response and serves humanitarian purposes. It does not carry a commercial value.
The use of the medicine will be in line with the guidelines prepared by Japan and according to the recommendations of the World Health Organization and the regulations followed in Kuwait, Al-Bader added.
Oman on Saturday confirmed 930 new coronavirus cases, raising its count to 16,016.
The health ministry said 691 of the new infections were reported among non-Omanis.
Recoveries have climbed to 3,451 and fatalities to 72.
The ministry urged people to stay at home and only leave when necessary.
