A 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit southeast Turkey on Thursday causing damage to some homes.

The quake struck the town of Ozalp, in Van province, near Turkey’s border with Iran, at a depth of 6.9 kilometers (4.3 miles), Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency reported.

There were no immediate reports of any casualties, however, it was felt in neighboring provinces, according to HaberTurk news channel.

Gov. Mehmet Emin Bilmez said the quake knocked down parts of a house in a village near Ozalp and damaged some homes in the town.

“Apart from that, we have no loss of lives,” he said, The Associated Press reported.

Turkey is crossed by two major fault lines, and earthquakes are frequent.

The country's worst quake in decades was in 1999, when a pair of strong earthquakes struck in the northwest, killing around 18,000 people.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denied on Thursday a report that he had spoken the previous day with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump about Gaza ceasefire and hostage release talks, Reuters said.
"Contrary to media reports, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not speak yesterday with former President Donald Trump," a statement from Netanyahu's office said.
The report, in Axios, cited two US sources. One source said Trump's call was intended to encourage Netanyahu to take the deal, but stressed he did not know if this is indeed what the former president told Netanyahu. The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Egypt, the United States and Qatar have scheduled a new round of Gaza ceasefire negotiations for Thursday.
