27 ISIS Suspects Held in Turkey as Attacks Planned

Turkish police have detained 27 people in Istanbul over suspected links to the ISIS group Sunday, state-run media said Sunday.

The Anadolu news agency reported that the suspects were held in simultaneous early morning raids by anti-terrorist police in 15 districts across Istanbul as they allegedly prepared to carry out attacks.

The agency said the alleged attacks were in response to recent social media posts that insulted the Prophet Muhammad and that a "large number" of documents and digital material was recovered during the searches.

Turkey has suffered a number of attacks by Islamic State militants over the last five years, including the bombing of a peace rally in the capital Ankara in October 2015 that killed 102 people.

Russia Launches Drone Attack on Kyiv

Ukraine's air defense units destroyed more than 10 Russia drones that were targeting Kyiv in an overnight drone attack, Ukraine's military said on Sunday.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries as result of the attack, Kyiv's military administration posted on the Telegram messaging app. It said that the information on the full scale of the attack will be released later on Sunday.
"The UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) were flying in different directions towards Kyiv," said Serhiy Popko, the head of Kyiv's military administration. "The air raid alert in the city lasted for more than three hours."
Reuters witnesses heard explosions in Kyiv in what sounded like air defense units in operation.
There was no immediate comment from Russia about the attack.
