The visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi to Saudi Arabia has been postponed after the hospitalization of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi foreign minister said on Monday.
"In recognition of the importance of the visit and a desire to make it succeed, our wise leadership in coordination with our brothers in Iraq has decided to postpone the visit," Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah wrote on Twitter.
He added that Saudi Arabia appreciates Kadhimi’s decision to travel to the Kingdom in his first overseas visit since his appointment to his position.
Saudi-Iraqi relations are developing in a manner that reflects their shared history and the future that awaits them, he stated.
Despite the postponement of the PM’s visit, the Saudi-Iraqi coordination council will continue and efforts will continue to achieve the desired political, economic and development goals, he remarked.
