The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf, has welcomed the announcement of a permanent ceasefire agreement across Libya after negotiations held at the UN in Geneva.

Al-Hajraf expressed hope that the deal would lead to a comprehensive political solution, which would bring security and stability to the Libyan people.

The accord was concluded on Friday after talks between military representatives of Fayez al-Sarraj's Government of National Accord (GNA) and the Libyan National Army (LNA) of Khalifa Haftar.

Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah met on Tuesday with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani in Doha.
During the meeting, they discussed the firm relations and cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, exploring means to enhance these ties.
Following their discussions, the ministers co-chaired a meeting of the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council’s executive committee. They discussed mechanisms to further develop the two countries’ solid fraternal relations on both bilateral and multilateral levels within the framework of the coordination council's activities.

They also explored means of enhancing bilateral collaboration through several initiatives.
The executive committee's secretariat presented an overview of the work of the council and its subcommittees, along with updates and preparations for the upcoming eighth council meeting.
The committee reviewed the progress made in the work of the subcommittees and the initiatives launched during the council’s seventh meeting, which was held in Doha on December 5, 2023.

The two sides praised the ongoing collaboration among the subcommittees and their working teams, emphasizing the importance of maintaining this momentum to achieve shared interests for both countries and their peoples.
