Saudi Transport Minister Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser signed an MoU with the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen to develop land, sea, and air transportation networks in the neighboring country.

The Saudi minister said the agreement will help boost the quality of life of Yemenis and the economy of the war-torn country.

“It will strengthen the infrastructure of all governorates of Yemen,” Jasser said.

He went on saying that under the deal, different projects will be carried out to link different cities of the country.

For his part, SDRPY General Supervisor Ambassador Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Jaber said the deal would contribute to upgrading the level of transport services in the country, which will have a positive impact on other vital sectors since the transport sector connects cities and governorates and links the country with the region and the world.

He commended the fruitful cooperation with the Saudi Ministry of Transport, which goes in tandem with the directives of the leadership to assist the Yemeni government in the development and reconstruction of vital sectors to improve infrastructure.

The MoU consolidates the efforts of the Saudi authorities to develop and reconstruct Yemen. It also helps improve the skills of transport professionals and provide technical and advisory support in the field of road maintenance.

Besides supporting the development of the transport sector, SDRPY also supports a number of rehabilitation projects to develop Yemeni airports and ports, including development projects for Al-Ghela Airport, Aden International Airport and Socotra Airport.
