Saudi Arabia announced on Wednesday that it has registered the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine for import and use.

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority said that the concerned health authorities will begin importing the vaccine according to the demands of the Kingdom. It will analyze all imported shipments before their use to ensure their effectiveness.

The Health Ministry will later announce when the vaccine is expected to arrive and when it will be available for use, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

Pfizer last month said its vaccine’s two-dose regimen was 95% effective against COVID-19.

Saudi Arabia reported 159 new cases of the virus on Tuesday, taking its total to 359,274.
