Abu Dhabi: Remote Learning for 1st Two Weeks of New School Term

Abu Dhabi has approved remote learning for schools in the emirate for the first two weeks of the new term starting on Jan. 3 to protect the health of students and staff, the Abu Dhabi media office said on Twitter on Wednesday.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has discovered a "limited number" of cases of people infected with the new coronavirus variant in the country, a government official said.

Omar al-Hammadi, an official spokesman of the UAE government, said at a press briefing on Tuesday that those affected had travelled from abroad.

UAE on Tuesday reported 1,506 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the overall tally of those infected with the virus in the country to 204,369.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, spoke by telephone on Wednesday with Algeria’s President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Crown Prince Mohammed congratulated Tebboune on his re-election for a new term, wishing him success.
