The Israeli Foreign Ministry appointed Tuesday its former ambassador to Turkey as the country's temporary ambassador to Abu Dhabi.

Eitan Na'eh, Israel’s first official diplomat to serve in the UAE, will arrive in Abu Dhabi in the coming days.

He had served as an envoy to Turkey until he was expelled in 2018 by Ankara when relations between the two countries deteriorated.

Israel decided to send the diplomat to Abu Dhabi to lead a temporary mission as a prelude to establishing a permanent embassy there.

Sources in Tel Aviv revealed that Netanyahu plans to personally attend the opening ceremony of the Israeli embassy in Abu Dhabi, the Israeli consulate in Dubai, and the embassy in Bahrain.

In this regard, the Israeli PM held talks with concerned officials in the UAE to visit Abu Dhabi next month, prior to the Israeli elections.

Also to prepare for Netanyahu’s visit, two Israeli delegations had arrived in the UAE and Bahrain two weeks ago to quickly follow-up developments of relations between Israel and both countries.

The same sources also expected that the Moroccan Liaison Office in Tel Aviv and the Israeli Liaison Office in Rabat to open in the coming two weeks.
