Universities and schools across Egypt started mid-year exams under strict coronavirus measures.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research called on students to adhere to necessary precautionary measures, including being present at the campus before the exam and to keep facemasks on entire during their stay in the examination committee and university.
The ministry added social distancing must be strictly enforced, which includes no handshakes or physical contact.
This came as Egypt reported 601 new coronavirus cases on Friday, bringing the total number of infections to 181,241 since the outbreak last year.
The Health Ministry also reported 49 new deaths, bringing death toll to 10,590.
A total of 433 patients have been discharged from hospitals over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of recoveries to 139,927.
Meanwhile, the secretary of the Ministry of Mosque Foundation, Dr. Noah Al-Essawi, said on Saturday that Tarawih and qiyaam prayers in the coming month of Ramadan will be allowed amid precautionary measures in mosques where Friday prayers are held.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, advisor to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, confirmed that cases in Egypt are decreasing during this period.
