The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque announced that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz has approved holding the Tarawih prayers at the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah during the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

At his directives, the number of rakats will be reduced given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The necessary precautionary health measures will be in place at the mosque throughout the holy month.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, head of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, said King Salman’s decision reflects the leadership’s keenness on holding prayers at the two holy mosques and dedication of all services to ensure the safety of worshippers.

The General Presidency has dedicated its full human and operational potential to serve Umrah pilgrims and worshippers during Ramadan, he continued.

King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman are constantly following up on all affairs that would ensure that the best services are provided to the worshippers, he added.
