Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi asserted Monday his country’s stance on supporting all efforts aimed at reaching a compressive political settlement to the conflict in Yemen.
Sisi’s position came during a meeting with Yemeni Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Maqdashi in the presence of his Egyptian counterpart, Colonel General Mohamed Zaki, in addition to Yemeni Ambassador Mohamed Ali Marem.
The President stressed that Egypt backs all endeavors aimed at finding a political solution in Yemen in order to maintain the country's stability and territorial integrity as well as fulfill the ambitions of the Yemeni people against all foreign interferences in their internal affairs, an Egyptian presidential statement said.
It added that maintaining Yemen’s stability and territorial integrity are the principles of Egyptian policy, and that Cairo would not spare any effort to help Yemen attain those goals.
Presidential spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said that during his meeting with Sisi, the Yemeni defense minister delivered the greetings of President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, also valuing cooperation ties between Egypt and Yemen in all sectors, particularly the military.
Maqdashi added that his country looks forward to continuous support from Egypt for political endeavors to contain the situation in Yemen and end its humanitarian crisis.
