Egypt’s health ministry reported 871 new COVID-19 cases and 43 deaths over the past 24 hours.
The new cases raise the total number of infections since the pandemic began to 364,033, while the death toll reached 20,770.
According to the ministry, 951 patients were discharged from hospitals after receiving medical care, raising the number of recoveries to 302,259.
Meanwhile, Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar said a number of fake COVID-19 vaccine certificates were seized after the government announced that unvaccinated citizens were not allowed to enter Government institutions.
The minister said in televised statements on Sunday that necessary legal procedures were taken against violators.
He also stressed that all types of vaccines are available in the country, affirming their effectiveness against the coronavirus.
The minister further confirmed that no Omicron cases have been registered in Egypt so far.
