OIC Secretary-General Welcomes France's Intention to Recognize State of Palestine

Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron’s announcement of France’s intention to recognize the State of Palestine, SPA reported.

Taha described this prospective move as an important development consistent with the principles of international law and an extension of France's long-standing support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Taha further stressed that France's announcement would significantly contribute to strengthening the political and legal status of the State of Palestine on the international stage.

He called on all states that have not yet recognized Palestine to follow suit and to support its attainment of full membership in the United Nations.
