The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry welcomed on Tuesday the Lebanese government's commitment to restoring ties with the Gulf countries.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati discussed in a phone call with Kuwait's foreign minister, Sheikh Ahmad Nasser al-Mohammad al-Sabah, efforts to return Lebanese-Gulf relations to normal, Mikati's office said in a statement on Saturday.

The Foreign Ministry hoped that constructive and practical measures would be taken to that end and to help restore security, stability and prosperity in fraternal Lebanon and to its people.

Saudi Arabia's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday it welcomed the "positive points" in a statement by Mikati over the weekend.

On Monday, Mikati reiterated his government's commitment to returning Lebanon's ties with the Gulf Cooperation Council countries back to normal.

It is committed to taking the necessary and required measures to boost cooperation with Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, he continued.

Lebanon is committed to all Arab League decisions and international resolutions, he continued.

He urged the need to cease all political, military, security and media activities that are launched from Lebanon and that harm the sovereignty of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries.

Beirut is committed to the Kuwait initiative proposed to resolve the rift with the Gulf, he remarked.
