King Salman Sponsors 'Umm al-Qura' Centennial on Wednesday

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz will sponsor on Wednesday the centennial celebration of the Umm al-Qura newspaper.

Governor of the Makkah region Prince Khalid al-Faisal will represent King Salman at the event, which is being held by the Media Ministry.

The Kingdom's official gazette, Umm al-Qura was witness to the rise and development of the media sector in the Kingdom.

It issued its first copy during the reign of the founder King Abdulaziz, on Jamadi al-Awwal 15, 1343 Hijri.

Umm al-Qura is among Saudi Arabia's most famous media outlets and has managed to modernize itself to keep up with the times under the acting Media Minister Dr. Majed al-Qasabi.

It was first printed on yellow paper, then white and eventually in color. It is held in high esteem in the Kingdom and reports official statements, rulings, local news and government decisions and announcements.

Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan Hold Third Round of Political Consultations

The ministries of foreign affairs of Saudi Arabia and Tajikistan held the third round of political consultations at the Saudi ministry headquarters in Riyadh on Wednesday.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed bin Abdulkarim El-Khereiji and Tajik Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Farrukh Sharifzoda headed their respective sides during the meeting.

Discussions focused on boosting bilateral relations between the two countries across various sectors, as well as intensifying bilateral and multilateral coordination on issues of mutual interest.

The consultation round was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Tajikistan Waleed Abdulrahman Alreshaidan, Tajik Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Akram Karimi, and Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs Department of Asian Countries Director Nasser Al-Ghanoum.
