Bahrain’s Ambassador Presents Credentials to Syria’s FM

Bahrain’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Damascus Waheed Mubarak Sayyar handed over his credentials to Syria’s Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad on Thursday.

Mekdad welcomed Sayyar’s appointment and expressed his country’s interest in maintaining the best relations with Bahrain and all brotherly Arab countries, Syria’s official news agency SANA reported.

He underscored the importance of resolving all the intra-Arab disputes to address common challenges.

Sayyar reiterated the kingdom’s support to Syria’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity, noting that it rejects any intervention in its internal affairs.

Saudi Arabia condemned on Wednesday Israel’s publication of maps that show its occupation of parts of Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, claiming these territories as its own.

In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry slammed such extremist acts that reflect Israel’s “intentions to consolidate its occupation and continue its flagrant violation of the sovereignty of those nations.”

Saudi Arabia called on the international community to assume is responsibility in stopping these violations, “stressing the need to respect the sovereignty and borders of these countries to ease tensions and put a stop to attempts to undermine peace efforts.”
